2017 release : The one and only recording of Bruce lee's real fight.
Bruce Lee real fight footage.
Bruce Lee’s status as a martial arts icon has long been secured, but how often did the late actor engage in an actual bout of MMA on camera? The answer to that is just once – and spectacular restored footage of that very encounter is now going viral after re-surfacing online.
The San Francisco-born martial artist would often spar with his students, but rarely on film – hence why the adding of restorative colour to the archive footage is considered to be so momentous. The clip sees Lee take on Ted Wong, one of his top students at the time. The fight was likely filmed in the late 1960s at Lee’s jeet kune do school in California, which Wong attended.
In the restored footage, the two martial artists – who are both decked out in black padding and protective gear – look more than willing to engage in some proper hand-to-hand combat, with Lee – perhaps unsurprisingly – landing the most hits.
