In grasping the sparrow's tail, we define the four major techniques of Tai chi. Ward off, roll back, squeeze and press. These primary techniques will be the basis for all other Tai Chi moves.
The name for the sequence comes from a Taoist story where souls or spirits come to the physical realm on the back of a sparrow's tail to give us life in this physical form.
